NetworkNewsBreaks – Marijuana Company of America, Inc. (MCOA) JV Completes Setup of 10,000 sq. ft. Greenhouse Space

Innovative hemp and cannabis corporation Marijuana Company of America (OTC: MCOA) this morning announced the completion of the setup of 10,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse space in its Washington-based joint venture (“JV”) with Bougainville Ventures, Inc. Pending the completion of an anticipated inspection this week, the tenant grower will be able to commence cultivation in the greenhouse space. The setup marks the first 10,000 of an intended 30,000 square foot facility with the capacity to hold approximately 4,000 plants. “As landlords we are looking forward to providing a turnkey property to the first of hopefully many licensed tenants in Washington. Providing a turnkey facility for tenant growers is an ideal cultivation environment for tenants with minimal start-up capital and consistent rental income for MCOA,” MCOA CEO Donald Steinberg stated in the news release.

In Salah's Nile delta village, the Egyptian is a super hero

May 22, 2018

NAGRIG, Egypt — The cafe began to fill up more than two hours before kickoff. By the time the match began, some 200 men and boys — some as young as five — huddled around two large TV screens at a cafe Mohamed Salah frequents when he's back visiting his village deep in Egypt's Nile Delta. Salah didn't score, but almost everyone at the cafe let out a joyous scream and clapped enthusiastically at the final whistle: Liverpool, the English club for which Salah has scored more than 40 goals since he joined this season, has reached the final of...

Dying Indian nurse: "Take care of our children"

May 22, 2018

NEW DELHI — The nurse, with two young children and a husband working overseas, scrawled the words in blue pen as she lay dying in an Indian hospital isolation ward, sick with a rare and deadly virus. "I think I am almost on my way. I may not be able to see you again. Sorry," Lini Puthusheri wrote her husband in a tangle of English and Malayalam, the main language of the south Indian state of Kerala. "Take care of our children," wrote Puthusheri, who was infected with Nipah virus while caring for sick patients. She signed it "Lots of...

Indian archbishop urges Catholics to pray for democracy

May 22, 2018

NEW DELHI — The archbishop of New Delhi has waded into Indian politics, urging Catholics to pray for democracy and marginalized people ahead of national elections next year, bringing a quick rebuke from the ruling party. India is "witnessing a turbulent political atmosphere which poses a threat to the democratic principles enshrined in our constitution and the secular fabric of our nation," Archbishop Anil Couto wrote in his May 8 letter, which was sent to all the city's churches. He included a prayer to be read during Masses that asked "May the ethos of true democracy envelope our elections with...

Iran's transgender people face discrimination despite fatwa

May 22, 2018

TEHRAN, Iran — Nahal smokes yet another cigarette on her mother's balcony overlooking Tehran, one of the few peaceful places the 19-year-old transgender woman has in Iran, where her identity can bring harassment and prying, judging eyes on the street. Nahal recalled how she had hardly started high school before being forced to leave over her classmates' insistence she dress as a man. Her manicured fingernails, painted pink, brushed away her long brown hair as she looked through old photographs of her childhood, recounting how even her own family has struggled to accept her. "I no longer see my relatives,"...

May 22, 2018

KATHMANDU, Nepal — A Sherpa climbing guide who scaled Mount Everest for a record 22nd time last week returned from the mountain on Sunday and said he's already planning his next trip. After flying back to Kathmandu by helicopter, Kami Rita, 48, said he's not ready to retire and plans to continue to guide visiting climbers on the world's highest mountain next year. "I will continue to climb. I have not reached my retirement age, and until I retire I will continue to be a guide on Everest," he said. He said he will continue to climb other peaks and...
